Z060049 Hi there
I passed CFA L2 and know a bunch of people who finished MFE in NTU.
This year only 2 grads from NTU ends up in Front office job and both were exprienced people.

To get into banking, you can utilize your engineering skills. If your job is on IT system/programming/computer infrasturcture, it will be quite easy for you to get into back office IT.

If your aim is not IT, then it's going to be really really really hard. Unless you have great network or resource, you need to get descent MBA first. MFE in NTU/CFA definitely won't help at all. Nowadays less and less people are needed in financial industry. People arlready inside the industry won't leave at time soon. There are tons of professionals waiting in the line.......
If I were you, I will probably try to goto an management role(perhaps you are a manager already) in the firm. Get a descent MBA(Insead, standford)....then you will have more choices, including becoming associate in IB.

Ryan002 Hey dude,

These other detractors can kiss your ass. Forget them. The truth is, finance just requires instinct, a head for numbers, and very often a complete lack of ethics and social skills. What you won't be used to is the politics; engineers are used to standards of excellence and productivity that bankers aren't.

Actually, carpark attendants have standards that bankers can't attain to either, character-wise, so that's not saying much.

But anyway, you've already attained much more in life than most of these morons will. So go for it. Focus on developing solutions for clients, because that's what engineers are already used to doing. And do not, EVER, give face to a banker. Remember they have less right to even exist, much less tell you what to do.

And to the bankers here, no of...oh wait, offence intended.

My interest have changed towards finance. So Ive taken the initial step to sit for CFA lev 1 exam coming Dec to gain some banking/finance knowledge

Just a few questions to clarify??
1) After passing Level 1 what are my chances of getting a job in finace side??
2) main reason for doing CFA is to get in to MFE programme offered by NTU.what are my chances of getting admitted in to a university MFE programme with CFA Level 1 + Parttime engineering degree ??
3) Hw long should I reserve for CFA study preparation??? (My math is really good)(Finance zero-done fair bit of accounting during high school)
4)Which area in finance should I look forward to work in??

Thanks in advace
It's good to have dreams but it's even better to wake up to reality.. Part-time education in private university + unrelated engineering work experience.. tsk, tsk.. Good luck man..

I know a few better-prepared finance people fail the CFA. To be painfully honest you sound unprepared and ill-informed. So I am not sure of you making it. Apologies if I am too frank.
