Why do you require permanent role unless you are getting on in age and desire some stability?
Tech is not an area you should stay still in the same place forever. With contract, you can learn some new skills (hopefully), add some projects to your portfolio and try to move on to your next role with a higher pay. Contracts between 2-5 years should be sufficiently long to assess whether you yourself want to stay.
