To be able to get a paid job, you must first be an hobbyist.

If you have no prior interest in IT, your skill level will be mediocre.
No one will pay you for it.

Going Le Cordon Bleu ain't going make u a great cook if you can't cook to begin with.
Is it too late to start learning now???

coldyx Thanks for your pre-warning and advise.

As of now, I have no family or financial commitment.
Only a full time job that is unrelated to IT.

My only main concern is, if i successfully graduate, will I be able to find and change my career into the cyber security industry. That's my main worry at the moment.

Any other people manage to successfully do this?

well, to be honest, pursuing and graduating with a degree at your age is no easy task. esp if u have financial commitments / married / kids.

i will try for the degree first and see how it goes. u'll nvr know if u dropout halfway...

What are my chances of getting into IT security at age 32? Let say if i start studying for an IT degree with no relevant IT experience?

Unregistered you would be treated as a fresh grad =P with fresh grad salary since without experience you can't do any high level stuff which commands high salary.

Unregistered It's k. Some people due to set backs in life or switching courses in uni end up starting work only at your age. No problem, BUT once start or in your case switch at such an old age, DO NOT change.

career switch in early 30s

Hi All,

I am new to this forum, would appreciate if I can have some constructive feedback from the mature people around here.

I am 29 this year and will be turning 30 next year.

Just wondering if there is anyone who has successfully gone through a totally new career change in their early 30s.

If possible, what are the challenges faced?
Is it possible to be successful in a career change in early 30s Singapore?

Much appreciated for any advise.
