Unregistered For law firm business functions and ops (non-secretarial), definitely go for big 4 only and use it as a stepping stone to the international firms. much better pay, treatment and quality of life.

most ops/BD people dont last long in these roles anyway.

oh, and dont even bother with the local mid tiers. they cant even treat their legal associates well. you can imagine the business support staff will be treated like dog ****

Lawsupport Not entirely shoestrong budget. Definitely treated better than the admin support.
But local law is somewhat mom and pop still. Hygiene factor is still high esp for fresh grad.
People forgot about offshore law firms. Can move on to offshore after a stint in the local law. Culture and treatment will be different after that.

Unregistered Depends on how you market yourself within the firm. But generally you are treated as a non-fee earner and therefore people don’t really care about you. You can do your own stuff and relax. Lawyers won’t have high expectations of you and you can go home on the dot

Support staff at local law firms

Hi, can anybody provide some insight on how support staff (specifically marketing/BD) at being treated at Singapore law firms?

I heard that some firms can be quite hierarchical and dont care much for support staff. Marketing/BD are expected to operate on a shoestring budget and are treated as slaves and workhorses. Is this true for both small and big (R&T, A&G, WP, D&N) Singapore law firms?
