Thank you and appreciate your replies.

Yes we could start a WhatsApp chatgroup if there is a need to and if people are comfortable with that.

KPO Here are my inputs:

- Are you employed or unemployed?
I am unemployed as of date.

- Would you be keen to meet up on a regular basis for this support group?
Yes I would be keen to meet up for this support group and even after I have secured a job, I would like to continue in the support group.

- Which industry are you in or were you from? Whats your profession?
I was in the various social enterprises and government agencies for 18 years, in middle to senior management roles.

- How can you contribute to this support group?
I can organise talks/social/group activities, facilitate group/panel discussions.

- What do you hope to achieve through this support group?
I hope this support group could
- provide a listening ear;
- provide networking opportunities;
- help others prepare for the transition;
- learn new resume writing skills;
- tips on job interviews from both private and public service HR practitioners

The end state for me would be to build a network amongst us to help the next generation of unemployed. Hopefully by then, we would be gainfully employed and be in better positions to help others.

We could start off simple, say meet up for a walk and jog over a weekend.
One, it is relatively cost free and two, exercising always helps.

Come on people, lets hear from you now...

Support Group 2018

Dear All,

I have been thinking about this over the last few days and with the blessing of our Forum Administrator, I am starting this new thread about forming a support group for the unemployed.

I have organised and facilitated community support groups over the course of my career and now that I am in between jobs, might as well do something productive while waiting.

To kick start this discussion thread, I like to seek your inputs on the following...please feel free to add on or share your thoughts too.

- Are you employed or unemployed?

- Would you be keen to meet up on a regular basis for this support group?

- Which industry are you in or were you from? Whats your profession?

- How can you contribute to this support group?

- What do you hope to achieve through this support group?

I will come back in the morning with my inputs to the above questions.
