If you have enough passive income to reach financial independence then by all means just do whatever you like. No harm anyway.

If not yet my advice is to stay in the current job till retirement. Only 10-12 years more to go, if you just jump out and take up jobs that have nothing to do with your experience, not only confirm pay cut but high chance of not working out. If it doesn't work, you are pretty much screwed at your age. No way to recover.

i_stinks If money isn't an issue for you anymore, do what makes you happy. If you are afraid of not teaching well, try be a volunteer teacher first.

Career Switch at 50.

Hi, I will hit 50 next Apr, and I'm in dilemma with my current work. I'm in an IT industry. I have few certs on hand, but, I've yet had a real experience with them.
