Unregistered | I recently got a call from an agent for a UBS graduate ops contract program. Apparently it is a 4 months contract "grad program" for a wide range of roles. Anyone know what this program is about or what is going on here?

At my company, interns rarely ever join back as a perm employee. At least not as an extension of their internship to a perm role. Even the interns know that so they just hang around trying to pass time till the internship is over. Ironically they hold the cards, so we have hardly any influence over them. Contractors on the other hand are a different story. They all yearn to be get a permanent role and most will go to any lengths to please their bosses. And if the contractor is a hot girl, then the boss is a real lucky bastard Had a case where this contractor and boss (married) always used to be on leave on the same days. She wasn't really that good at her job but after her contract got over, instead of renewing it, the boss got her a permanent role instead. That's when the gossip started and shortly after the boss left to another company. She was let go for poor performance later, but she got a salary boost and, for what its worth, a pedigree company name on her CV. |

Unregistered | Accenture's fresh grad starting pay is $4000. So it's definitely underpaid.

what to do....nowadays students/undergrads/fresh grads all willing to forgo their salary and land an internship to hone their skills...sometimes you think of it..is it worth it? i have so many friends who went to student exchange programs and did half a dozen of internships...but had difficulties finding job or just earning normal fresh grad pay... |

Service jobs being repackaged as internships Quote:
at $550 a month, is it cheaper than foreign talents? |

warning | And worse still, you're not even hired directly with accenture.

Unregistered | hello friend, thanks for sharing. nice of accenture to take in fresh grads. normally internship with companies can do without CPF contribution because IRAS would have an agreement that companies are hiring students and hence in audit accounting would reflect the situation. In accenture case as a private firm perhaps it might not have this agreement and thus cash flows from accenture would be marked as "contract worker, applicable for CPF contribution".

How are they trying to under pay you??? You get less but they still have to pay the 20% to your cpf. On top of that they also have to pay the employers contribution. |

Unregistered | tbh, i think it is good for grads who cant enter direct. at least the lower std of entry will allow the grads to showcase their working ability and be considered for a perm role
