PhD: more well known, more difficult to get as it depends heavily on your research output and new knowledge created for the community. DEd: Easier to achieve as it has higher weightage on Course work. Doesn't require that much research output, sounds like Diploma in Education. Quote:

Thanks for the reply For a current MOE teacher...I am wondering which path would give better prospects...at a certain stage a normal school teacher's prospects gets maxed out and especially if you are not an MOE scholar.. As such would a Doctorate in Education guarantee a better chance in climbing up the MOE management or would a PHD give a better chance at lecturing at NIE? These are 2 possible avenues |

Unregistered | as stated on their respective website, Doc of Ed is like a PhD but with a professional focus. Probably more for MOE leadership. | |

PHD in Education VS Doctor in Education at NIE Hi I am contemplating in doing one of the 2 courses. But there seems not much information about it over the net or among people. So I am throwing the information out , so that some of you can help me out in making a decision?
Hope those who have knowledge in this can shed some light? thanks DT123 |
