Nope....CS won’t take you if you only wanna join because you were retrenched. Believe it or not, entry interviews are very stringent because they sieve out private sector type who only want to hop in and hop out.

Unregistered Slow and steady wins the race! Outside can increase very fast, but once you reach certain age and level, you will be prone to retrenchment whenever the economy sours...

Whatever the MX is, I get lots of criticism from family and some friends that this is ridiculous increment as some in private get 500-1000+ increment a year early in their career.

Seems a bit long for you. Constant C+ is actually good. I got a 2nd lower overseas degree and became MX11 this year (joined 2017 as MX13).
