Not only is it unethical, it is illegal (fraud).

Last year, an ex-lawyer was charged in court, fined and jailed. The hr department managed to discover that he faked his ex-company salary slip during job interview, and took the necessary actions.

Since your friend can't keep her mouth shut, she is running the same danger... ..

The industry is not big and companies do network at times.
Why ruin your career and life for this?

Unregistered Hi, I am also an engineering undergrad, interested to know more about this 2 industries. Like for example, what are your job scopes, daily duties etc. I would like to know more about them so that I can make a better choice about my career. What I feel is that both industries are very large scaled projects, so even though they are different in things u do, they share lots of similarities in terms of things you do as a mechanical engineer? (like you would still be solving problems related to mechanical eng) So I would be fine to go into either industry as long as I have the interest in this kind of large scales project? Thank you for any advice.

Unregistered Hi,
You might not want to join Keppel.

1. They will bond you for 2 years under the Management Trainee but there are no real benefits. The position is considered lower than normal.

2. Turnover rate is especially high in that company. Go ask your seniors. There have been cases of people leaving after the 1st day at work and those who leave after just a week. Project managers with 5 years of experience just pack up and leave.

3. They work on a low-pay, medium bonus system. They can choose not to pay you a bonus if they want to.

4. They blacklist and ban their own employees, scholars and workers. Go check with their HR.

5. OT is the norm. You can even be allowed to exceed the 72 hours maximum for Over Time. Bypassing the MOM law.

Engineering: Offshore vs Construction

Hi, I am a mech eng undergrad in NUS, interested in doing planning/designing kind of job, considering between these 2 industry Offshore engineering(oil rigs, ship....) and construction( bridges,buildings...).

Can any seniors with similar credential share about their past experience in either of these 2 industries?(Basically the things you do, the working hours and culture, and maybe the coy if you can) I read in other posts about the long workings hours in keppel, is that going to be a permanent thing? Or will it only be for the first few years of your career? Would appreciate all comments thanks. Additionally, you all can also offer me other options that are available in Singapore. TY.
