Hermit Louis, I do not want to be cruel but the truth is the 5 years you spend in the force will not help you in any career other than security companies like Certis Cisco etc. There are thuosands upon thousands of ex-policemen in Sg. So that kind of background is quite common.

Unregistered depends on what you really want to do. If want to continue stay in SPF for life, getting the degree is just to improve your CEP (whatever that is called in SPF), so quite honestly what you study doesn't matter, just choose something you like & SPF can approve.

if you are intending to study some totally difference course with intention to run road after 5 years, you better think twice. by that time you will be competing with all the fresh grads in the job market with only a part time degree, too high existing pay, and stigma of irrelevant exp & culture in civil service

career switch from spf

Hi,

I would like to gather opinions and views regarding the path which i intend to take.

Currently right now i sign on with spf for 5 years and im only allowed to take a part time degree after 2 years of service. For the time being, im only reaching 1 year of service. I plan to take a degree, but still unsure which degree to take. Upon completion of my 5 year service, i might consider whether to sign further or not. Currently, i have a diploma in design and im not sure if thats the ideal career path i should take if i choose not to sign on.

I wish to look into other related fields, such as psychology, etc. But what i heard is that i need at least a masters to go further in singapore.

I wish to pursue a degree that i can use spf as a pillar of support.

Opinions?
