I don't think all Australian degrees are inferior. Really depends on where you go and what courses you take. Many of my friends with Australian degrees in psychology and biz are doing well.
Melbourne University is obviously a good university in Australia, considering it is the highest ranking with the highest local entry standards.

The issue is that they severely deflate those standards for international students, which are use as cash cows. Hence the perception of MelbU as of inferior quality outside of Australia.

The question OP should be asking himself is not whether a degree from Melbourne is superior to a degree from a private university. All things equal, that is surely the case.

The crux of the issue lies with whether the ROI will be worth it. 120-150k vs 30k is significant. Will going to Melb earn you back that 100k you spent? If you are rich, then go, but if money is a consideration, it may not be worth it.

Thank you all.
Would like to offer my perspective.

I would not be looking purely at brand recognition of potential employers but also alternative exit strategies. Many people don't actually end up in jobs for which they studied for at university. I would advise thinking about entry requirements for programmes like MBAs, JDs or post grad MBBS (or whatever it is called. I would also advise considering whether a mid-way transfer between programmes is an option in the event you realize half-way through that business is not as interesting as you thought it would be.

Ultimately, private degrees in Singapore would not afford you the same postgrad opportunities as a degree from uni of Melbourne. My suggestion would be not to limit your exit options at this stage - go to uni melb.

Unregistered Are you jokers serious?

ANY GO8 Aussie uni is far, far better than SIM. Jesus the mental gymnastics some of you SIM kiddies do to justify your trash degree are confounding. There's a reason your beloved SIM only managed to import tier 2 Aussie degree over (RMIT) and not Uni of Melbourne. Keep coping SIM filth.

Nah, MNCs are profit-driven. If they can outsource everything to India, then why they still setting up Singapore headquarters? Bc Singaporeans have our own talents, even if it may not be academic-driven.

There's plenty of schools and millionaires in the world better than you, but they are not going to waste their time jerking off and feeling good about themselves just because they are better than you, a loser from Singapore. Go compare yourself to the 2020 President's scholar Alyssa Loo if you so pro ok. Even top scorers are so humble.
Oh phisted until tired got to rest? Next time need help let me know OK, I'll give you a phisting so hard you'll be begging me to continue all night long.
