The Essence The Essence condo is a 5 storey high residential development in the Sembawang area, that is surprisingly conveniently located. It is something like 7 to 8 minutes walk from the future Springleaf MRT station on the Thomson East Coast line that is scheduled to complete around 2021. Travelling time by the future North-South Expressway will be pretty quick too. Something like 20 minutes off peak to get down from the Essence condo to the Raffles Place CBD. The train to Orchard Road should take no more than 25 minutes, so it is not as far away as it looks at first glance either. Yet the Essence condo location still retains some of the laid back feel and lots of greenery that Sembawang is known for. For one thing, there are a couple of reservoirs with their nature reserves close by - Upper and Lower Seletar Reservoirs, and the forested Mandai Road reserves. The area surrounding the Essence condo is generally low rise, mainly landed housing like those at Mandai Gardens behind it or Springleaf in front, with a couple of small apartment developments.
