Unregistered hi yao ming..did you manage to have a go at the professional engineer (Mechanical) examination in Singapore? I would like to hear from you if you have any advice for someone who is planning to take the exam

yaoming23 Hi there!

Thank you for your advice! What I see is lift/escalator specialist PE and I see BCA have this job contract job posting for quite sometime too.

What my worry is that the pay isn’t very good compared to other industries. And one would need at least 4 years of experience to achieve the PE certification. If the available projects out there are mostly A&A projects. Not sure if the exposure is sufficient for one individual to becoming a PE.

Unregistered Why not? Several developing asean countries accepts our local credentials for PE services.
Dont limit yourself to just this tiny well. Go for it!

Various classes for PE are there now. You could become specialist PE and take up inspection jobs which offers rather consistent incomes due to statutory renewal requirements. But well market is tough and some business acumen makes you go further.

Dont necessary need to be a typical consultant designing only aircon and buildings.

Being a Professional Engineer in Singapore

Hi all,

Need advice if is it worth grooming yourself to become a professional engineer (Mechanical) in Singapore.

Currently in the Consultancy film but I notice there are not as many projects as before (in 2000s). If that’s the case, I don’t think there is much opportunities to become one since the demands would not be as high as before?
