The slew of critical comments have a weak basis in fact. Someone angry with teachers is spending their time googling nonsense like “teacher sex crime” to feed their biases. Don't think cold calling will work very well at this stage - their response will probably be to just wait?

Friends/acquaintances are more likely to be able to offer you information on that. Best if you can get their recommendation, especially if they're a KP…
