Thanks for replying. I feel that the 4% rule applied to the past when getting a high interest rate of 5-6% from deposits and low risk instruments was relatively easy to achieve. You can get close now however I want to wait for a correction to buy some more blue chip securities.

It is not that difficult to earn a 10k passive income. A 2M portfolio having a mixture of blue chip banks, and REITS can easily get you 5-6% yield at relatively low risk.

I do not really believe in passive income in blue chips and REITS etc. It is not difficult but a person has to actively monitor and manage these. It gets harder as one gets older and needs to rely more on the passive income vs a salary for expenses.

I feel that the success in those financial blogs is because we have had a long run without a depression in the markets.

Also, if someone has 2M, its advisable to break that down to different asset classes and also maintain some cash for emergencies and also for a war chest which means that it will not be a straight 4-6% yield for the entire amount.

Great savings!

Why don't you buy a resale HDB flat or invest your cash?

Default Passive income is the power

I believe net worth is not that important as compared to generating passive income streams. I would rather have net worth of $500k but my passive income is 5k a mth than someone with $2m net worth that has minimal passive income.

Default Pay it forward - free ticket & investment book worth sgd$200

I have always emphasized on generating multiple streams of income through a portfolio of income asset
Recently, I met Sean Seah Ex-CEO of Value Investing College recently and we were talking about building various streams of income.

He mentioned that he is challenging 5 different investors to prove if they can make $10000 in 10 days and they have taken up the challenge and will be sharing in this on 2 Nov in Expo and the entry ticket is US$97.
After some pestering, I managed to secure 30 FREE tickets for my friends and we have 16 tickets left currently.

As a way of paying forward for what I have achieved through the learning process,
I have asked him to give out this best selling book in Amazon.com call FINANCIAL JOY 2.0 (Retailing for SGD$49.90) which is a very good read for adults and young children.

So, please register fast before the FREE ticket and book is fully redeemed. Click the link below here free entry s://10k10days.eventbrite.sg?discount=Ed55
