Oh yea, someone should STOMP this or write to the local papers to make it known to the masses.

Thank you for highlighting this incident. I think a lot of consumers are unaware of such unethical practices.

Do something about this and lodge a complaint with the IDA by emailing the details to info@ ida.gov.sg If SingTel is doing what you say they are then it's clearly a violation of the new Premium Rate Services code of practice (http://www. ida.gov.sg/doc/Policies%20and%20Regulation/Policies_and_Regulation_Level2/20070508145556/PRSvcCode.pdf)
Several smaller premium SMS providers have been fined already due to breaches - the IDA has some teeth here!

I tried replying with UNSUB at least THREE times and they still keep smsing me. That's 15cents gone. Plus I have to pay for each incoming and outgoing SMS, and they KEEP SPAMMING ME WITH ADS.
Could someone go to the press about this?

Well, this is an unfair tactic against the consumers. There is a Competition Commission created under the Competition Act which is a law passed to act against any unfair business practices that only favors the companies against the consumers or other competing companies.

I think this is one of those lousy business strategy that exploits on human weaknesses...
Put it this way: if there's like 10-20 in a marketing dept trying to keng something boost sales, stupid things like this bound to come up...
I guess for us consumers, the immediate action is to NOT ignore advertisement smses & really read what they say... the next thing is to alert the proper authorities...
Stressful world we live in hor?

How do we alert the proper authorities? What would you do if you receive such an sms from Singtel?
