let's put it up front what our govt cannot say:

dumb ass citizens can't be trusted with their own money, they'll spend it all on booze and batam or scams and end up with no money for their old age .

only way is to tie it up in the CPF and release it slowly to them like the little naughty children that they are.

i'm not being sarcastic.

If it is just this reason, no matter how patronising, how humiliating, how insulting, how condescending, it is still ok. It is for the people's benefit.

What other rumours are saying is more sinister and scary - that we are running out of money! Not enough to pay since many baby boomers will be reaching CPF withdrawal age!

Oh come ON! Run out of money while at the same time pushing out a 8 billion
(8 000,000,000! ) dollar pioneer generation welfare state package?

You must be kidding me!

do you also believe the "rumours" that giving the MMR vaccine will make your children autistic?
or that Obama is actually a muslim?
or that homeopathy actually works?
or that Mr Olongo from Nigeria really wants to transfer 150 millions to your bank account?

You are quite easily distracted by red herrings. That's why it is easy to pacify gullible people like you. What is $8bn when more are at stake?

I gave an example with my reasoning that a bankrupt government will be unable to give an 8 billion SGD transfer to the elderly.

Where's your reasoning? What are your sources of these rumours? Please please please don't tell me its from Yahoo.sg or gawd forbid THE REAL SINKAPORE?

Think for a second. Don't just complain / whine like a small child. Be a responsible and intelligent adult that contributes and not just add to the noise.

Losers and small minded people like you are very irksome. Don't read widely, know very little and full of themselves. Can you go and do some research. With the ubiquitous internet, there is no more excuse to live in darkness.

Just to help you a little (actually a lot) :://.nationaldebtclocks.org/debtclock/singapore

USA is technically bankrupt but still can issue QE.. etc..
So long a country is willing to print money, can definitely create any amount despite the lack of forex reserves to backup the value of the currency..

No one knows how much is Singapore reserves because it is totally not transparent and bulk of it is stowed away in GIC.. Temasek.. etc... All under the locks and keys of PAP..

We could be looking at a gapping hole... Because all the crap PAP is throwing to prevent withdrawal of CPF does gives u an idea that something is not right here...

Lucky this forum is anonymous, otherwise very embarrassing for you.

Don't hurt your brain anymore. Don't think. I am sure you must have read or been told that governments went bankrupt because they spent more than they have in their treasury?

By the way, does your parent know you are using the internet? Embarrassment!
