1mil to invest, best risk free product
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a quick answer to this question. See, I work in the alternative investment space so I know that those in investing in hedge funds seek high returns, like 10%. But of course, those come with a draw down, could be even as high as 5%.
I'm out of touch with the more risk-free, safe but mild returns products. So my question is:
With S$1mil to invest, what returns can you get that are as risk-free as possible. Savings account, fixed deposits?
The hedge fund space is getting more crowded, so returns are dwindling. Maybe I should just go risk-free. How much can I get?
Cheers.

Ocbc currently has a 6 year structured deposit . If you are sure you won't need this sum in the next 6 years, this is interest and capital guaranteed. Low risk.

I beg to differ with the above user, any product with the word structured has investment elements linked into them. The bank is merely using your capital to bet on the market using a 90/10 80/20 bonds to options ratio, guaranteeing capital on one end and betting for returns on the other.
When it comes to risk free, the important question to ask yourself is liquidity. If you have a short time horizon, then I guess a short term FD will do the trick. 6 Months FD is going at 1.2% PA at CIMB. If you have longer time horizon such as 4 years you can consider putting it into insurance companies special short term savings plans that is 100% capital guaranteed upon maturity, interest is usually 1.8% guaranteed with a small bonus at the end of the tenure.
Hope this helps!
