By "first timer", do you mean that you have never owned a HDB previously? If so, when you downgrade, you may need to wait 2.5 years before you can BTO.

Free tickets and investment book worth sgd$200

For those who know me, I have always emphasized on generating multiple streams of income. I met Sean Seah Ex-CEO of Value Investing College recently and we were talking about building various streams of income.

He mentioned that he is challenging 5 different investors to prove if they can make $10000 in 10 days and they have taken up the challenge and will be sharing in this on 2 Nov in Expo and the entry ticket is US$97.
After some pestering, I managed to secure 30 FREE tickets for my friends and we have 16 tickets left currently.

Besides that, I have asked him to give out this best selling book in Amazon.com call FINANCIAL JOY 2.0 (Retailing for SGD$49.90)

So, please register fast before the FREE ticket and book is fully redeemed. Click the link below here free entry s://10k10days.eventbrite.sg?discount=Ed55

Portfolio concept wise - ok. U should add CPF contribution as well then u can see that your portfolio is probably balanced. 50% savings / 50% REIT&Equity

I will also time the injection into REITs and equity.
There are those that say you cannot time the market. Well, but i cant stand to see losses so i only enter when i am more confident the direction is right. Otherwise, any stupid robot also can invest.
U also need to keep balancing the portfolio every 6 -12 months. ie if you did not execute any trades in 6 months due to conservative behaviour, then inject some at the 6/12 month mark and rebalance REITs with growth stock when the market is on the uptrend. Current market sentiment is very down so growth stocks are all taking a beating.

Whatever i dont inject goes into war chest that will be deployed when i view the timing is right.

Posibble to retire ?

Unregistered 08-11-2019 10:40 AM

Can retire if you deploy your cash for safe investment.

HDB rental should be easily $2-$2.5K/mth.
CPF interest: $24-28K/year

My networth and age is similar to yours except only have one HDB living in it.

Serious advice needed

Hi, 30+ yo Singaporean male seeking genuine advice from the 40s-60s age group here. Professional finance job making 100k pa. Currently deciding between chasing two very different girls. First girl is diploma holder, secretary role, 小女人 type and submissive, earning 40k pa. Second girl is degree holder, a colleague in a similar role and pay (different office), career-minded, a little opinionated. I'm not big on looks, its just the personalities I'm interested in to form a family with. Both seem receptive to my wooing.

For those who has decades of married life experience, which girl would give a better shot at a successful and happy life in SG? I had NS friends who are happily married to foreign kampung-types brides and also some unhappy with marrying high-achieving types despite living in condos and driving conti cars. Thanks for sharing your life advice.

Unregistered 22-12-2019 11:57 PM

Hi,

My advise is to marry a wife that would give you support, encouragement and you would be successful.

Don't marry just for looks, smart or big boobs.

Supportive wife is the most important imo.

Singaporean women should donate a portion of the income they earn in their first 2 years of their career to men. So unfair for women to have an earlier head start in life. 2 precious years. And don’t talk those ******** about women having to give birth etc - the fact is childbearing is not enforced but men are forced to go through 2 years of hell in the army.

Unregistered 02-05-2021 11:37 AM

Anyone face this kind of situation like me?

Wow so much. I’m 31 M and I don’t even have 20k

Unregistered 02-05-2021 03:51 PM

Thanks, I understand where you coming from, take advantage of the CPF SA. 4%, Would benefits esp once reaches 65 years old

The Delimma I am having now is within these few years before I turn 55, I have to invest in a 2 Rm bto flexi b4 the funds get lock in for retirement, hence there is a shortage of cash involved. That's the most concerned part

Investment carries risk, doesn't necessary carry returns esp now trying hard period
Never heard abt robo advisor much, how it works? Or any advise any investment performing steadily during these period for my reference?

You are free to give up your Singaporean citizenship and seek assylum elsewhere like Amos yee. Then you can skip NS. All's fair.
