Tax

Hi I am a US citizen that will be working in Singapore starting in a couple months.

How much Tax will I need to pay in Singapore and in my home Country (USA) yearly?

Thanks, any info will be greatly appreciated..

Hi,

You need to provide more information on your duration of stay and if you are PR,EP holder etc

For a start, for singapore tax, the main point it to determine if you are a tax resident in Singapore.

You are deemed a tax resident of singapore if you meet the following criteria :
1. Singapore or Singapore PR holder
2. Foreigner who stayed in Singapore for above 183 days or more.

You can read more about your applicable tax rate here :
IRAS: Income tax rates

There are also special tax schemes established which can help you.

1. not ordinary resident tax scheme.
IRAS: Not Ordinarily Resident (NOR) Scheme

2. Area Representative tax scheme.
IRAS: Area Representative Scheme

I am not 100% sure of US tax laws so i will not comment on how to avoid double taxation.

No double tax

Pay Singapore government $x.
Pay US government net of whatever need to pay if in US less $x.

You ask this question once every 5 years - I'm not sure if you're really moving to SG at all. But I'll humor you, s://.taxesforexpats.com/singapore/guide. This is a pretty good guide to reducing the double taxation that you will be subject to.

3.35 million covid cases (highest in the world), 137k deaths (highest in the world), >26 trillion national debt (lol seriously wtf), a racist and bigot for a president, protesting against wearing masks and lockdowns because it iNfRiNgEs YoUr FrEeDoM rIgHtS. Now you're comparing a sg fresh grad's pay to an expat's pay who has years of experience, and everyone knows expats have more generous remuneration packages than locals in any country.

Y'all not just stupid, y'all broke too. 8-15k is probably your salvation at this point.

US taxes its own citizens globally. Think a good rule of thumb will be to just use US taxes as a base case since you willl first pay SG taxes then pay whatever difference between SG taxes and US taxes to the US govt. Given that US taxes > SG taxes, you pretty much will be paying US taxes.

Guys, it seems to me that you need to learn about tax resolution services because I feel like this topic is missing precisely this. Taxes have always been high, and they will be increased in the future because the government, large companies, and some private businesses need to have income from the activities they are engaged in. Taxes are an excellent opportunity to improve the financial situation for such people. I agree that this is very unprofitable for taxpayers, but this is how the system and modern life work, so I advise you to adapt to this by contacting specialists
