Of course they do. they will check you did not misrepresent your role/scope of work and also your performance records. If your hiring manager wants to, he/she can even request to speak to your formal co managers via HR. If you don’t pass the background check then you end up with no offers so don’t burn any bridges.

Hmm thanks. So when is the best time to tender the resignation letter ? Initially, i thought after obtaining the offer letter , we can immediately tender the resignation letter. However, from what you had mentioned, seem like still have to wait the background check if being confirmed then able to resign officially from previous company ?

I suggest minimum 2 weeks after signing the offer letter. 3 weeks to be safe. But most people just resign right away which is fine of course, shouldn’t be a worry if you have been honest throughout the application process or did not do anything terrible in your previous company.
