Question is if i move to Public / CS, will they match my pay ? Or can i ask for more, say about 5.5 k ?

As i know, Public / CS pay for Asst Manager is about 15 mth pay is a norm = 82.5 k.

Should i lower down to 5 k ? to get about 75 k Annual ?

Thanks in advance
I recommend you aim higher instead of lower. Try to aim for 5.3k, if they want to decrease then let it be. Else, you gained extra 300.

I've been to at least 5 different ministries / stat boards for interviews. All mentioned the same thing: we can only offer you the same pay (lateral transfer across agency) or marginal increase ($100/$200).

Any HR folks here pls help to explain this stingy policy?

Means you have nothing to offer beyond just another warm body filling up a job. Why should any ministry offer you big increases if you have nothing exciting to add? If they are throwing tax payer money anyhow then I will have problem with their generosity.

Wow, does it mean you have reached the final negotiation stage of salary discussion? 5 successful interviews?

What I meant in goodfaith is at least he has 5 offers. I think at least his skills set and experience is recognised?

if you have been in public sector long enough, it isn't that hard to get offer as long as you don't have a bad track record and the job is generic enough.

having 5 public organizations not willing to offer increment means he is close to or above the bar/mid-point of his job level and so far he hasn't been able to demonstrate and convince anyone that he is qualified for bigger job responsibility or has the cep to show that he still has room to grow.

if u give me few months of just whacking whatever jobs are on careers.gov i am quite confident of getting at least 3 offers also, but just not good jobs on favorable terms. not meant to boast, but those in public sector long enough will know what i mean.

Thank you for the reply..

I am really at a lost now...

Whether to tahan this pay and increase slowly (I'm in the wrong industry confirm no pay increase for few years) in the private sector, or go to

CS / Stat Board, get decent increment and good bonus.

Haizzzz.. Need good advice whether to switch or stay in Private...
