I am 32 years old working in private sector with 8 years of experience. I feel that I am not getting anymore working in an sme environment and thinking of switching to public sector as Asst Director. Any idea what kind of salary range will I be getting?

Best stat board i would say is ITE in your case. they pay the BEST (suprisingly)
second would be Polytechnics. they pay a premium to their staff as they are all required to have relevant industry experience.
But at 32 you are way to young to be an AD, at best a Manager at a Polytechnic or ITE.
With 8 years exp, I would say 6k+ thereabouts. Problem is you only have a degree, so maybe low 6k, high 5k.

That will mean a huge pay cut for me. By the way I just came back from the AD interview, looks like they are still open to consider people at my age for this position. Don't they consider your current pay package at all? Is there a position ceiling for non-scholars?

Directors in Polytechnics are already super scale..
I think what he meant was for acadmic staff.. corporate staff might get more. AD's should make 7-8k on the average.. DD's and D's are already in superscale range.
SD and DP's are ~ 20k in polytechnics, well, at least the one I work in. :P

Sorry I stand Corrected.
Senior Managers make 7-8k on the average.. AD's are at about 12 in Polytechnics...
