It is not uncommon for the very top (not the normal scholar) scholar to get yearly promotion initially.
Moving up at each grade get progressively more difficult and it get significantly slower (or stagnant for some) after MX10.

i also wanted to chip in.
from what i know, civil svc / glc has a tag "high potential"
once your tagged with this (president/ saf scholar /tagged by top mgmt) the default banding is PR2
bell curve shows out of 10, 2 gets band 2, 3 gets band 3, 3-4 gets band 4 and 1-2 unlucky fellas get 5
PR2 annually almost certainly gets promoted bi annually. this is how BGs are made by early 30s i suppose. lol
typical peasant like me can maintain PR3/3+ annually is very lucky already
so thread poster sharing his jump from 2.9 to 6.6 not impossible
i made a less significant jump from 2.8 to 5 from 2010-2014, had two salary revisions $2xx and two promotions $5xx in span. direct supervisor appears to play huge part, he keeps fighting for u every year both appraisal and moderation (bell curve)
then next level supervisor plays another part. usually to his favour anyways, he more PR2/PR3, bonus pool share he gets for his team (including u) the better he looks

10% increment annually is easy and probably underperforming for the first 5 years of your career.

i would say this depends
1) if u drawing 2k on contract then secured perm conversion @ 2.4 , increment 400 20% seems massive
2) if u drawing 6.2 and increment 350, 5-6% seems miniscule
3) the salary range for every grade is to ensure this job grade does not stray. its not perfect, if u hover near the top or the bottom i would consider unfavourable
sweet spot likely then is to hit quickly around midpoint then work towards 80-90% of ceiling within 3-5 years
eg manager 2.5-5k
promoted in at 3k then hit 4-4.5 within 3-5 years
4) must factor in own capability to deliver at next level. if u having difficulty coping wif KPIs at current level, may be foolish to aim for next level and then become a perennial PR4 or worse, get into session wif HR
else u try hopping to other coy get higher salary range also risky. a friend of mine secured a support analyst role with no people mgmt kpi at 6.6k role and was chopped within a year, coy hired 2 pinoy at 3k cheaper than him
5) yes i agree. once u hit 10k, very hard to move up big $ unless u gotten the hang of the game at the csuite n top mgmt level

Look at your above fake number and let me dissect it further.
2010 Grade MX13 (typical for non scholar)
2012 Grade MX12
2014 Grade MX11
*********************************
A 20% hike for scholar will be something like that and that requires 4 promotion at least, into the rank of MX10. You will need at least 4 promotion.
2010 MX13
2011 MX12
2012 MX11
2013 MX10
Everytime you get promoted into a grade like a rocket, the HR will need to ensure that your salary hit the base of the grade.
Thats where you got a huge jump.
So many people here like to fake high salary and many you guys here not clever in rigging numbers. Time you guys get lost.

this guy is really sour grapes or got the short straw in life and feeling unhappy? anyway im not the same poster as that guy. whether its truth or not, only he knows. im just sharing my thoughts on the situation.
cs is very big, have you seen everywhere? i know people who work 4 years from fresh grad and havent hit 5k basic, also know guys who jump in after 3 years and close to 6k now, and also scholars who worked 10 years, director level with 5 digits. fyi not everybody follows the mx scheme, it's just the most common scheme.

at least this guy is talking sense instead of being negative.
those in cs will know whether promotion every 2 years is possible. those who arent or hearsay only/read online will make a fool out of themselves if they say something wrong.

I think it is getting clearer, and there appears to be increasing consensus - the sour grapes loser is not just bitter but also stupid. I suspect the stupidity is the cause of him being such a loser in his career, which has then led to his current bitterness. Poor thing.

But most of us little/no chance of becoming MP leh. Higher chance of joining CS. Even that loser somehow managed to sneak into CS for a while, but he left because he CMI...

every year confirm at least 1-2 band 2 performer
the old saying "if your wise, u dont want anybody to know ur damn rich..."
paraphrased to
"if your wise, u wldnt want anybody to know you tio toto..."
same to
"if your wise, u wldnt parade or announce every year u get band 2, esp to colleagues..."
