It's based on my personal observations. Even among local grads, SMU grads are generally better (in term of comm skills and articulation). You can look at their powerpoint presentation. I suspect they might even have an internal competition of who can come up with best powerpoint slides. Technical skills/substance, on the other hand, is another matter.

It depends whether you're going for specialist or generalist in government sector. If it's latter, discipline doesn't really matter. DSTA/DSO should be a good place for power specialist. Not sure if EMA or any agencies (outside defence sector) taking in specialist in power but can try writing in. Pay-wise, you can try asking on threads e.g. DXO, DSTA etc depending on which agencies that you're targeting.

If you've yet to graduate, join their internship programme. Best to find out more directly from insiders.

Thanks, currently doing internship in sembcorp. I will try to apply EMA internship next year.

just a general Q, Civil sector vs private sector. which is better?

Feel very lost, i still have 2 years to decide on my career path even though I'm on track for 1st class honour in NTU EEE. Engineering field offer low starting salary and most ppl struck at 5k. most of my frens recommend me to sign on if I manage to get a 1st class/2nd upper, since the starting salary is alr 5.1k, kind of attractive with all the backpay of roughly $40k.

Can give me some words of advice? Thank you. really appreciate ur help and time. cheers

If you expect specific answer, you'll have to ask specific questions and give clearer context/background. You don't expect people to second guess your mind.

No, I don't expect any specific answer, I'm just asking to find out whats their point of view. The problem is I don't even know what to ask. I believe there are many ppl like me, just following the Singapore stereotype education path: Get a degree first then talk. At the same time, they don't know what they want to be.
