Not really. You can imagine HR won't care whether a uni is ranked no 56 or 64 right?
Tier 1: Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, LSE etc (usually PSC scholars)
Tier 2: NUS
Tier 3: NTU/ SMU
Anything else, you likely won't get a place in the top ministries/ SBs. Low-tier SBs still possible.

For advice
Currently I am in a stat board, permanent position for about 2 years. Applied for another ministry job and offered a 1 year contract. According to HR, this 1 year contract has the potential to be renewed or emplaced depending on performance and headcount. The skillset to be acquired for this job might be more transferrable/higher in demand compared to the current position. Assuming that the overall package slightly lower, is it advisable to take up this contract position? The only concern is job security after the end of 1 year. In general, what are the chances of conversion/ renewal in the current climate?

It's a risk. If your RO don't like you and fail your probation or extend your emplacement consideration period, then you GG. My colleague kena the earlier and I kena the latter. Luckily we are in IT security field.. easily find another job.

Fresh grad here and looking at the different uniformed service agencies
Can anyone share which agency is the best to join in terms of starting salary and progression: ICA, SCDF, SPS and Customs?
