Lol it’s not honestly having worked as an AD in MAS n senior associate in EDB, I would hands down find more qualified and people of quality in EDB.

I graduated from NUS ISS GDipsa. May I ask why LTA over DSTA? Other than the reviews on DSTA glassdoor it being a more specialized? Would think that DSTA is a technical SB and hence would be better for SWE.

I guess some of us were confused as there was a poster saying he/she had major in political science.. idk much about SWE but if I were to choose I’ll choose LTA as there will be more project opportunities considering it a super huge sb

not sure about SWE in particular, but in general most engineers in DSTA end up doing a lot of project management work one way or the other as you go up the hierarchy, since it is primarily a defence acquisition agency. not to say there is no SWE work either, but my impression is rather than DSTA, DSO is the more technical oriented organization in the local defence sector.
skills transferability is also an issue if you are not committed here long term for a career, since a lot of projects here are very niche application to military, and also you cannot really talk about your projects for security reasons.
that said i can't speak for LTA. starting pay should also be quite high for engineers in DSTA.

I was the replier for the above, to me LTA better cos
LTA have self-managed IT division such as
In-house IT Group
Transport Technology Group
Tech and Industry Dev Group
DSTA got what?
classified 1 - Army
classified 2 - Navy
classified 3 - Air Force
classified 4 - Special Ops
so 5 years down the road, you wanna move to other places... the interviewer asked you what have you achieved for the pass 5 years.. you said classified?!?!

For the sake of interview, it's ok to just say what we did in DSTA, not like the interview will be recorded for public consumption anyway.

It is stated that the MX13 scheme is for fresh graduates and the salary is capped at 3k, while salaries for MX12 scheme ranges from 3-5.9k.
However most of my seniors that graduated this year are drawing 4-5k from stat boards like LTA, PUB, HDB (2nd upper and above).
Does this mean they are placed in the MX12 scheme? I heard it is very rare but possible. Has the salary range for MX13 scheme been bumped up or am I missing something here?
appreciate any inputs
**The seniors that I mentioned graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from ntu and they are not scholars.
