This is a move that I have been contemplating for years. The civil service job is stable, pays relatively well and I knock off right on the dot most of the time. I joined the civil service at a time I yearned for stability. I am leaving because I already know the ending to this story. I do not mind this ending. It's a end where I will retire in my current job, performing the same role for the next 25 to 30 years. Yes, it is possible to be promoted, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I decided that this isn't how I want my story to end. It's a little like reading a book from the beginning after someone told you the ending. There's no trill in it anymore.

That said, I still do not know if I am making the right move. I would't really, until I look back years later.
Are you the scholar on HiPo who posted sometime back?

thank for the reply,

I am not a fresh grad, $2800-3000 starting would not be relevant to me.

if your experience is totally not relevant, they will offer starting pay. it's quite standard. it's the same problem I face. Working 8 years and getting offered fresh graduate pay because jobs don't see any experience I have as relevant.

fyi i have 8 years experience, nus 2nd upper and doing msc now but i am getting less than you.

Default Stat Board Max Point

Hi, can anyone please tell me what is Max point referred to? Does it refer to monthly gross salary or just the basic? Thanks.

Any has a rough idea how end of year bonuses will be affected in view of the economic climate ??

i know my mid yr bonus was abt 100-200 less than last yr's

eg. last year's end of year bonus was abt 2 months (13th mth + 1 mth for excellent GDP growth). this excludes PB bonuses of course. wonder how much lower it'll be for 2011 ???

No I am not. I am a farmer; a local graduate who spent 4 years in the private sector and 6 years as a civil servant.

Now joining a quasi-government org.

Anyone from DSO

How much is the starting salary for 2011 fresh grad?

1st class = how much (with NS)
2nd upper = how much (with NS)
2nd lower = how much (with NS)

if current got 3-4 years of exp with 2nd lower(with NS), then join DSO, how much to expect?

Default pay start?

Hello all,

I have a 2nd Lower from NUS and I will be getting my Masters of Arts by Research from quite a prestigious university in the UK this November. I am expected to pass with distinction. Ceteris paribus, what would be my starting pay be.

I am 26 this year and have fulfilled all my NS requirements.

I believe that a masters does not usually equate to a significant increment, maybe 1 annual increment for every 2 years of full time study, or nothing if it was done part-time.

My masters degree is an intense 1-year full time research intensive degree (which means that I have to go through an oral defense to pass), quite different from the taught degree which the institute offers as well. I am quite troubled with what I should put for my expected salary though.
