Default Gov should ban the practice of asking for payslips

Shouldn't the gov ban the practice of employers asking for payslips? With how the economy is now, fresh grads will get a low starting salary and other workers will experience a pay cut. When they move jobs, they'll forever be scarred by their lower pay due to COVID-19. Even promotions will be based on this cut pay.

In the U.S. this is already a thing to prevent employers from lowballing those who unfortunately had a low-paying job previously. There are other ways to verify employment and you should be paying a person for what they currently do, not what they were previously paid.

im a hr person and i agree with this. i dislike the "last drawn + 10 to 15%" for ur new job salary..

I agree. It’s a double-edged sword. The contrasting argument could be made where the person was paid higher in previous jobs due to corporate structure or industry specific remuneration. And for the same pay, there could be other intangibles that matter.

While a double blind test sounds perfect, i can’t deny money is still the overriding factor in most cases and hence the first effective filter for both applicants and hiring manager.

SME (2 yrs) -> $1500 to $1720 (14mths)
complete my part time degree age 24

MNC (9 yrs) -> $2500 to $6020 (15.5mths)
GLC (1 yr) -> $7120 (16.5mths)
SB (3 yrs) -> $6400 to $7700 (avg 18.5mths)
local bank (less than a yr) -> $11000 (avg 15mths)

i am currently 37 this year. I think the 10 to 15% guide increment from last drawn dont really apply if you are in private sector

for govtech, you should compare with other SB. in general being in IT, you are always at the specialist scheme, hence your designation are usually towards the techy.

A AD in Govtech is not equal to a AD or even a SAD in ministry. he or she is more senior than the designation reflect.

I am in a IT division of a SB under MOT. over here,
mx13 = assistant manager / engineer
mx12 = assistant manager / engineer
mx11 = deputy manager / senior engineer
mx11A = deputy manager / manager / principle engineer
mx10 lower = manager / senior manager / senior principle engineer
mx10 upper = senior manager / DD / principle architect
mx9 = DD / D

yes mx10 can be just a manager or even a senior princple engineer designation here.
But that does not mean he or she is a mx12 equivalence if he or she go to a ministry.

last year my colleague Manager transfer to a ministry and hr matches his grade at SAD
Anyone has any idea what is mx equivalent grade for a DD in LTA? TIA!

Hi, I'm a fresh grad with FCH from local uni. Is it generally advisable for fresh grads to enter civil service? I heard from some of my friends saying it's better to start in private so you'll earn and learn more..how true is that?
