private has better transferrable skills but pay can be low at start. more competitive in terms of output. so if you are driven to excel then private can challenge you to push yourself. depending on the types of coy, bonuses can be **** and can be good too.
just depends on what you want to do.

Male working in Civil Service 6 years, base is $6.5k. 30 years old this year.
Got admitted into top 3 US MBA that costs SGD$250k for two years. Will definitely have to take a significantly loan to attend.
Any take on whether it will be worth it to attend if goal is to be back in Singapore due to family (probably be back in private sector).

Serious? Usually cannot negotiate much from their offers. 50% increase on your monthly pay or annual package? How do you negotiate?

If it's HWS then you should just go. Try to save as much of your salary as you can and do summer internships to reduce the loan amount. Are you intending to go into consulting or IB?

HWS/M7/INSEAD MBA grads receive job offers before graduation.
MBB, Fidelity, Citadel, KKR executives are neither young nor cheap.

Yes to HWS. But also understand that salaries in Singapore are also depressed compared to US. Obviously if I’m able to be placed on overseas grad expat package it’s very favourable but not counting on that. Looking to do consulting, hedge fund/ pe, tech after coming back.

Have you spoken to your civil service RO about opportunities post MBA? They might be able to get you a good placement (PSLP) if you have decent work performance.

Thinking of transferring to another MS. How to go about?
Anyone here transferred within Ministries before?
Any changes to your salary? (If yes......how many % difference?)
Or no change at all.....
