Your base starts with the degree outcome and uni. Then add about 200 for NS, and maybe 200 for each year of relevant experience.
For example: NUS FCH Male 5 relevant exp will be 4k + 200 + 5x200 = 5200 thereabout. Average package is 15.5, so you are looking at 3.5 mths of bonuses minimallly.
EeAch degree class step lower -200. Base for SIM is around 2.8k.

Mind sharing what is the annual package like? Typical 16-17 months package?
Understand y ppl from Economic Agencies are paid more, since you guys bring in the business and money. Without money, we won't be able to talk about defence, education, health etc

Just to check, if you are a diploma earning 4k plus in private sector and shortlisted in civil sector, do they at least match your current salary?

Depends on whether they value your experience. Higher chance with statutory boards, much lower chance for ministries. Otherwise, they will just offer your a salary based on their formula.

Whats your profile? I think the ministry focuses a lot more on base profile and will pay you based on that. Then it will be contained within the range of the role’s pay grade too
If you are a recent grad (in last 5 years), then it will be really hard since you see people with degree are also not offered that amount.
The civil service, although it sounds unfair, pays a premium to the highest achieving university graduates than recent experienced hires (<3 experience)
