Most likely can nego maximum $100-200. HR computes your salary package based on a formula so no room for much nego.

Thanks for the swift reply. Should the nego be done before HR ask me to go down and sign the contract or during?

7 year worth of good experience and you rather waste it to join a ministry at fresh grad posting.. Sometimes really wonder what are you all thinking..

they will come up with a salary offer, then u nego before signing... cos signing part is like all confirmed and agreed upon, no more changing contract...

Ya when HR calls you to offer you and you're not too satisfied, nego over the phone and they might take it back for management's approval. If ok, they will call you back to re-offer

Thanks for the reply. HR did gave me a 'preliminary offer' amount while pending my medical results, but I thought nothing of it as it was not the official offer yet.
Called up the HR to nego but was told management MAY adjust and increase the amount for official offer but not to count on it.
Anyone experienced this before?

Wondering if there is a buffer range that HR can give, example they submit to management for approval 5000-5200, official offer to applicant is 5000.
If applicant wants to nego, HR only authorised to counter offer up to 5200.
Does it work this way?
