For a start, uniform group is one of the areas people won’t readily join as it is not those “office” job. You see Spf keep on spamming their recruitment advertisement at TV, probably need more manpower due to this reason.
The job scope and risk (SPF,SCDF) is higher compared to non-uniform.
The retirement age is also shorter compared to non-uniform.
That’s why their pay is generally higher and they can only earn that much till they “retired”.

Hi, I am a practising lawyer with about 3 years experience in the private sector. I am considering leaving law and joining MAS. Does anyone know roughly which band I will be in if I make the switch?

Probably MX12 at best, around 4 to 5k monthly, depending on the nature of the previous job, and educational qualifications (public service is one of the few industries where education continues to matter way past your first job).

Hello all, just wondering the possibility of switching from private sector uniformed careers, in particular under MHA.

I had tried several posting, so far those who had "processed" me deemed me as unsuitable

turning 29 this year, female. holding local uni degree.

i think u meant switching from private sector TO a uniformed career under MHA?

local uni degree shld be no problem. the issue here is probably your age.

unsuitable could mean a lot of things...for a start do u have any medical condition?

for males, uniformed groups do NOT take in anyone below PES B.

if all else fails, i would suggest maybe u can try joining ME (Military Expert) scheme under SAF.

AH yes! I do referring to entering the uniformed careers.

Nope no existing condition. Also, I was not called for any selection assessment, just received rejection in email. So I was just wondering if thats the age issue or something more, if anyone can advise.

As for ME, I will look into that! Actually more leaning towards the HTA side thats why

Hi. I am also in the same situation as you. PQE 2 years. Went for Mas interview (weird that i have only 1 and only interview) directly with the heads and GC. Got verbal offer the same day but not sure which band but the HR told me likely will start from 3.8k. Second year will jump to 5+. Bonus wise can range from 3-12mths depending. Did not take up the offer in the end as their hiring timeline will stretch for another 4-6weeks with all the checks etc.

MX11 range should be about 5.5k ~8.4k; MX11a should be about 6.5k~

2010 took up a MX12 equivalent job at SB 4k B grade PB 2.5 months
2011 MX12 4.5k B grade PB 2.5 months
2012 MX12 4.8k A grade PB 3 months
2013 MX11 5.3k C+ grade PB 2 months
2014 MX11 5.6k A grade PB 3.5 months
2015 MX11 (promotion within SB own grade, and salary adjustment) 6.4k C+ grade PB 2 months

Thanks for sharing. There is also aws 13 months, mid and year end payout. So total around 4 to 4.5 months in general right?
