In my Ministry, a Senior Manager is MX10 or even MX9 which is already Superscale grade (aka >$10k per month). The moral of the story here is...you cannot really tell the salary from the job titles and they vary across different Ministries.

In public service (especially the civil service), you should always look at the job grade to have a rough sense of the pay scale.

Hi all, i was wondering if I'm currently employed at diploma level, would I be able to ask for an adjustment to my salary once I officially graduate from my part-time degree or no difference unless I change job/Ministry?

Superscale salaries start at $16k pm (gross).

The $10k pm benchmark was a long time ago, maybe in 2006?

Pay grade: MX9 (Superscale)
Job title: Deputy Director, Director
Salary scale: S$11,110 – S$15,280 / S$15,280 – S$17,370

Here the Deputy director's salary is the last time scale salary before he crosses over to superscale as a director.

Ii believe Superscale mainly is for the scholars. With $16k at 5-6 months annual bonus is very comfortable (close to 280k per annum equates to $23.3k/month gross). That should be at least in the top 2% where top 6.4% earns more than $12k/month gross based on the statistics published in the MoM website.

I believe that is like a handful of the government workers. How about MX10 and lower?

And to think one of the directors in my agency has the luxury to sleep and read magazines/newspapers behind close door during office hours while getting paid handsomely. CS should look into adjusting the salaries and bonuses (downward) of such undeserving superscale officers.

280k per annum is nowhere near the top 2%, more like around 5%. Wages towards the top do not scale linearly. Out if a workforce of around 3.6 million, 5% is around 180,000 person. There are still a lot more people earning that kind of wages in private sector than cs.

Superscale salaries start at 11k plus. There was a post sometime ago indicating this as 2014 rates. A superscale holder is usually a deputy director or a director.

From the MoM website statistics, top 6.4% earns above annual income of $144k. Do you mean only 1.4% earns between $144k per annum to $280k per annum? That is way too high a gradient. Basically you are assuming only 50k people earning between $144k to $280 per annum. I would expect that superscale at $280k should be around top 3.5%.
