As i have been overseas for the past 10yrs ever since i ord, i have no network or anything in sg(harvard networking only exists in us and europe) and not sure how much sg economy and companies has changed in the last 10 yrs ,i am wondering what kinds of job are available here that would suit me. My academic credentials should no issue, bachelors cs from cornell,
masters cs cmu and lastly mba from harvard. Work experience would be 1 year at FAANG, 3 years at a quant trading firm. From my research , I know these are all highly regarded in SG. Would working at civil or private be better? I am not looking for high salary, would be happy with just total comp of 200K+ as at this age , I want to settle down quickly and have work-life balance. Prefer working at the financial side if not i would just be wasting my mba degree lol but dont mind working at tech companies.Maybe i might prefer civil side since my goal now is to just a good-paying job till i retire. What companies here can allow me to achieve all those?
Hahaha! You are trolling the CS folks here right? Do give the banks or global tech companies here a try instead. Although you wont be offered a VP equivalent with the limited experience you have.

Can anyone share generally what policy work is like in CS? Is it mostly desktop research and writing a lot of papers (like in uni)? I'm graduating soon and I prefer sitting in an office cubicle all day long than running around, wondering if CS will be a good fit for me lol

To the poster graduating from HBS, it is unlikely for you to hit 200+k in CS. At best, you will be hired at MX10, but you won't be clearing 150k.

There is a culture of group think and power play in CS. The workload in CS is quite heavy, but much of the work is pointless slavery. And even though it is difficult, you have to believe in the BS you are doing because everyone seems to believe their own BS.

I suggest you try out the private sector. You will start off as an associate, but should be made VP in no time.

Lol at that last line. And groupthink and power plays are not unique to CS, they exist in all forms of human organisation.

Associate to VP is quite a stretch... Guess u r referring to AVP instead? 200k all in is about right for “entry level” VPs in most local banks I believe, even BO roles.

Entry level VP in a local bank for sure earns less than 200k. Local banks don't pay as well as international banks.

No one from SOM calls their school Yale.
