It's not about how hard civil servants work, they can work 24/7, but the processes remain unnecessary, with unnecessary roles, obstacles, and where a flatter structure may be justified.

this all sounds nice and good. in reality, government organizations tend to be slightly more bureaucratic and rigid vs. private sector because incentives are aligned with error avoidance vs. in private sector where they rewarded for taking risk. which creates the perception we come to know as "cover your ass" "got black and white or not" "check the checker" type culture.
but the above is understandable because if a government body commits an error, beyond the repercussion to the country, the reaction from the public and the consequence to the ministries / ministers would be too much to bear.

At least where I am, we work hard as hell (frequent OT and sometimes on Saturdays too) and the pay is very low for the complexity and volume of work we do (take home ~$3k at 30+ yrs old). Not as easy or unjustified as I had thought.

Are you a diploma holder? Pay seems low for MX scheme.

A higher ceiling would mean your job grade is higher?
