Almost impossible for specialist schemes. But definitely possible for the normal MX scheme. I’m living proof and I know of at least two other batch mates who are in the civil service. Not sure about their salaries but I wasn’t undercut. Was offered 3.5 which is reasonable for a fresh grad 2:1 with no NS.
However, I should add that we got into civil service in spite of our private uni degrees - ie we worked very hard to boost our resumes with quality extra curricular and internships.

i agree. for people who are taking private, its either you have gd eca/internship to proof yourself or work and study part time. your 2 yrs relevant experience may help you as well.
ps : i was in private sector (private uni) for 10yrs before joining SB and leading a team now, small team though

the long and short is private uni is definitely not comparable to local uni.. you need other things in your portfolio to "top up" the difference

Depends on agencies too. There are so many jobs out there not everyone of them are prestigious and sought after by local grads. So private uni grads can pick the ones with lower demand

Lta exe engineer
Hi guys, I have received an offer from LTA for the position of EXE ENGINEER for $4700.
I have 2 years working in the related field (private)
I grad from NTU with 2ND upper HON and served NS.
It this reasonable?
I heard from grad with 2nd upper and ns can get $4500 already, how realible is this?
Many thanks!

Engineers usually get paid a bit more than corporate roles. I think it sounds ok. Most civil service low ball <3 year experience though, like they don’t really regard or top up a bit for those experience.

executive engineer is grad 7?
looks reasonable to me. fresh grad 2nd upper w ns can only get around 3.8 in lta. 4.5 is for other agencies that had merged 13th month into basic
