it depends what is overall career, it you talk about package then go for ES. In terms of progression, you have to be extremely driven (as compared to MX). it's like your peers are all high driven individuals and/or scholars from top universities so progression can be quite limited if everyone is all fighting for the same opening, or. you will probably just be a senior economist along the way? You probably need to do a masters for progression, and if you are outstanding and groomable then MTI would probably sponsor you. i think economist are seconded to other ministries rather than staying in MTI. Overall, ES is very intellectual. I think keep your options open and do your best at university, like someone mentioned they are very competitive and selective.

MX is more of a generalist.

Any idea stat board pays more than ministries?
i have no idea. i believe should be the same but the job title you get in ministry usually sound more superior.

eg.
fresh grad to SB - AM
fresh grad to Ministry - M or even AD

Hence your 4200 is somewhat identical to 3900 in other SBs (with 13th month). Still a good number though. the SB i am in just offer a fresh grad (2nd class upper, w/o ns) earlier this year 3.5
Can confirm this. I am from local uni, FCH, without NS, and the salaries offered to me by a number of SB ranges only from 3.4-3.6k.

Not experience per se. Like paying for you to defend the country. Haha.

Sounds like a 'consultant' title...

Don’t wish to disappoint. It is not totally impossible but highly unlikely.

The civil service can be picky because they are not short of applicants. And even if you do, your salary will not be within the ‘standard’ range you read here (high 4s). If you go through the past pages, typically, SIM grads get 800-1000 lesser than a FCH student.

You're kidding aren't you? That's like asking if a SIM law grad can be called to the bar. SIM grads are rarely ever hired to fill normal MXO roles and then, even in those rare circumstances, are paid at rates like 2.8k.
