2013 - MX13 (start at S$3.5K+, default C grade because less than 1 year)
2014 - MX12 (S$3.8K+, default C grade because confirmation to MX12)
2015 - MX12 (S$4K+, B grade)
2016 - MX12 (S$4.2K+, B grade)
What are the chances of getting MX11 this year? Thanks.

It is possible. You are eligible based on performance grade. The questions are how many others are eligible and whether your Director pushes for it. Does your Director know you want to be promoted or you will be unhappy if you are not? Anyway it is too late now. If you don't get it this year, keep up the good work and make it known to your Director before this year's ranking/promotion exercise.

1. SPF SPO
2. Investigative agencies like CPIB/ CAD
3. Intelligence (SID)
4. Economist Service
5. Other sectors running on the MX scheme
I will be graduating as an NUS econs grad with high fch (~4.9), non-scholar (excluding bondless scholarships by NUS). If I join SPF, will I start of as an INSP or as an ASP? MHA site says INSP but I heard ppl with good honours start of as an ASP?
Also, I heard from many people that civil service is extremely biased towards scholars in terms of career progression. The thing is, I actually applied for PSC scholarship after JC and was dropped after the final interview. But subsequently I was actually offered several ministry scholarships including mha ( spf). However, being 19 and not sure of what I want, I did not accept any of them. I did not bother with mid term scholarships as well as my tuition fees is already taken care off by NUS. After going through NS as an MP, and several internships in uni, I actually developed an interest in policing work and is planning to join spf. So if i join without a scholarship, would I lose out in terms of career progression as compared to the scholars? My brother who works in the civil service told me that my stellar grades would only get me a high starting pay, but it won't prevent me from getting stepped over like dirt by the scholars in terms of career progression. If that's the case, is there any other way for me to get myself placed on the same track as the scholars?
Tks for the help!

(1) to (4) are all special schemes and should pay better than MX, all other things equal. (4)'s experience is also valuable in private sector and academia. If you like police work, I'd say, go for it.
Scholars are given more opportunities, it's true. They are placed on the fast track, which has different names in different schemes. Used to be called Management Associate scheme in the past. If you have a FCH and perform really well in your first year, you will likely put on the fast track after confirmation (after tests and interviews).
Perform well doesn't mean doing your job well. You are expected to do your job well, which will merely net you an average grade. If you still can value add, do many CCAs etc, after doing your job well, then that is good performance. No lack of CCAs to do. Usually Directors try to tai ji them away. But if you make it known that you want to do extra, your Director will be happy to get some CCAs for you.

Hi
Does any one know how statboards come up with a figure for an applicant's salary?
Is it based on the position you apply for, meaning everyone will start off with the same standardized amount in that position, or is it based on your degree (local/overseas), years of experience, age, etc?
Does salary also vary across statboards?
Thanks

Hiya bros and sis, got a question on Current CEP and promotion.
Profile is as follow:
32 male,
5 Years 3 months in civil service (exclude NS)
Overseas Degree with honours
2011 - MX13
2012 - MX12, default C grade because confirmation
2013 - MX12, B grade
2014 - MX12, B grade
2015- MX 11, B grade
2016- MX 11, B grade
2017 - MX 11A
What do you think of the progression rate and what is the possible current cep?
Also what does PB Band 1 means? Does this affect CEP in any way?

CEp depends on Honours classification.
fch : highest cep
Second upper: not bad cep but need to farm for a longer time

I meant what is the possible CEP of the officer based on the progression rate above?

Please dont go around talking nonsense. CEP is NOT based on your entry educational qualifcations like class of honours.
CEP is strictly based on the estimated performance level of the incumbent, and what he can achieve as observed by his reporting officer (RO), supervising officer and the organisation.
I say this because I know people in my organisation who are pass/pass with merit degree holder, diploma holders who have high CEP. I have a pass with merit degree and I have a pretty decent CEP as well.
So please dont believe that CEP is given based on class of honours. Utter nonsense.
Anyway, based on the above case, I would think CEP is usually 1-2 grades higher than current rank/grade. Of course, CEP will be reviewed for higher grade in due course.

It depends. In any case, promotion does not depend on once-off grade. A sustained performance couple with availability of post are pre-requisites.
