Any idea whats the avg haircut for making a transition over to say MAS or a statboard?

Get in first then say. But most prob be prepared to take pay cut to about $100k pa if you're lucky. Else they won't even bother.

$250k pa before bonuses (usually 12 months)

I think the average "haircut" for making a transition over to MAS is a undercut or overlap.

quite impossible right, since non-MX12 alr got 5% revision recently.

sibei sian, join in 2013. not eligible for any revision.

Can only hope.

MOE last revision was in 2012. So 3 years one revision. If your revision was in 2014, then hope for a revision in 2017.

Considering upgrading to degree? If not, then ICA is actually a good place to stay for the long term, considering the civil service pay and benefits. Diploma holders hard to command a more attractive package elsewhere.

No, not intending to go for SO position. No point get degree for the sake of it if I am on the diploma track. As you say, diploma package is not bad already.

I am aiming for 2 or 3 "rooftops" and happy with 5-6k that comes with it. My superior a SSGT is earning close to 4k, so I think 5-6k is reasonable target.

I don't understand what you do mean by "rooftops" ?

You are aiming to achieve 5-6k by what age?

I guess he meant the ceiling of his salary range in his grade.

The writer was referring to ranks when he mentioned rooftops.

Rooftops is referring to the invert chevrons on a warrant officer rank.
2/3 rooftops = WO1 or SWO2

I'm aiming for Encik rank and earn 5-6k by late 30s/early 40s. Very possible as long there is no major screw ups in my career.
