Thank you very much for your thoughtful replies...

Many overseas scholars, the rest are from the 3 local unis. Masters are common.
The hr will scan through all the resumes and identify those who has Second upper or above. The resume will then be passed to the senior economists to assess if you deserve to sit for the written test.
Majority will fail the test. Those who passed it will get to be interviewed by a panel of directors or senior economists.

yea for non-scholars even if ur cep is very high & good performance, one will still need luck & correct support from the top to get director positions. also they usually get it in their mid/late 40s.
200k might be peanuts to trading / investment bankers, but it is beyond reach for most pmet in their lifetime.

I think you people should spend more time working in the service and less time bitching on forums...if you are unhappy leave the service and feel what life is like in the real world outside your little ivory tower....

I really regretted my decision. I didn't know my statboard gave me a much higher increment than what the Ministry offered me. Now, just few days into my job and I feel like going into the private sector already.

Ministry increment is pathetic I heard... $100 on average or less?
Stat boards can have $200 increment annually with an average C grade.

Say your salary consist of base Pay + Allowance but your got to work shift work, weekends and after office hours ec.... would you guys give that allowance up for a regular 9-6pm job with ur weekends free? Allowance is about 10% of your pay, base pay unchanged.

Nope. Stat boards have their own scales which are usually poorer. Dunno why they are not following the ministries.

$100 on average or less? I wonder where you heard that from.
I have been in a ministry for years and have never personally gotten or heard of people getting so low an increment.
