u need atleast second upper to pass through first layer of screening by HR.
then ur resume will go to director and she will assess whether u are eligible to take the written test anot.
once u have taken the test (which kills most of the ppl according to hr), the director will mark it.. if pass u will be interviewed by a panel of directors... if u pass it, more or less guaranteed... but u may still need to attend one more interview and meet the senior economist.
And the competition is tough... half of the ppl there came from prestigious oversears uni.. some even with master... LSE, princeton and so on.
pay wise it is definitely higher than typical mx scheme, which explains the tough competition.

anyway, being an economist dosent mean u r under the economist scheme... there is only 1 ministry that has this scheme... if u belong to another ministry/sb u wont be in the scheme

Ask your HR, or check in your own organization's HR resources on the intranet. Have a series of decent performance gradings handy.

Already said Liao... Onli 1 ministry has the scheme.
MTI is a ministry
MAS is a stat board
But economist from mti is always rotated around. So some may be posted to MAS for 2 or 2.5 years while still being in the scheme and enjoy higher pay.

Hi
Hello I am 27 years old, 2 years of experience in investment banking... Currently drawing 12k a month...
I am getting stressed and burnt out from the industry and looking to go into civil service..
What should I apply for to match my pay? I suppose I should aim for mx9 roles?

Just to clarify, what I meant was if I should be aiming for the same grade as in mx12 or should I be aiming for a promotion to mx11/mx11a..
