if i'm not wrong the pay raise is only for recent entrants. that's because the civil service reduced the starting pay last year during the economic downturn. the pay raise is to make up for it

depends on how recent you joined. you may have joined the service after the market picked up. i.e. the increase would have been factored into your current pay.
if i'm not wrong the increase depends on individual ministries and agencies. it's just a guideline so some agencies have the discretion whether to implement it

Does anybody know how long it takes for officers to go through each MX level?
My understanding is that MX12 is usually 2 years, MX11 could be anything from 5 to 10 years and so on.
This is to understand how long commoners have to slog before reaching directorial positions

hmm is there a way to check if my ministry is due for an increment for the newly joined officers? Other than asking HR straight, cause I dont really trust the HR dept in my unit, they seem to screw things up often :X
and rgd the MX progression, MX12 is after the first year probation, and MX11 is prolly like what you said around 5 years to get there

If you are chummy with HR, can try asking informally lor.. Sometimes the aunties can tell u insider information =)
I know of a non-scholar who went from MX13 to MX12(after first year probation) and to MX11 all within a span of three years. This guy (nothing particularly special CV, 2nd upper honours, 2.5 years NS) is probably the exception than the norm. But still it means it is possible to get to MX11 from MX13 (all less than 5 years)

Hi, I was informed by my HR that it typically takes about 2 years to get confirmed, i.e. to move from MX13 to MX12. This is longer than the one year which was mentioned above. Is this different for different ministries/agencies?

As far as i know, unless u really lousy, its sort of a given that you will be promoted to MX12 for a fresh grad after the first year probation (but being promoted to MX12; u are either placed on permanent establishment or give 3 years contract - of course, the former is better la)
This was a change introduced by PSD so as to give fresh grads a 'feel good' feeling of progression especially at the early stage of their career.

Pay increments are always sensitive. There is no way any self-respecting organization will put it up on a website or even its own intranet. The best way is to hear it from the horse's mouth. Thats why one would often advocate being friendly with HR colleagues.
