How much extra do civil servants on your respective talent schemes get? I understand it's sorta like a retention scheme to retain talent.

There isn't really much of advantage of going through your own agency's HR because the movement policy is up to the prospective agency's discretion and will only be a relevant consideration when you've passed all the checks.

I got a prospective HR asking for my CURRENT HR contact and email for reference check. like total madness. they say if public service requirement.

It is likely to be a character reference.
You need to provide it or they will deem you as unsuitable.
Why? No one will vouch for your character.

already provided 2 character referees. current and ex teammates. how will HR be able to vouch for your character without contacting your supervisor?

Seems like the prospective HR also not very mindful about the sensitivity. Happens a lot. You just got to hope that your current HR remain professional about this request.

From 1 July 2025, 37,000 allied health professionals (AHPs), pharmacists, and administrative, ancillary and support (AAS) staff will receive increases of up to 7% to their monthly base salaries.
2. This follows the Ministry of Health’s ( MOH) announcement on 29 January 2025 that 37,000 AHPs, pharmacists and AAS staff can expect salary increases by the middle of the year.
3. In addition, 26,000 public healthcare nurses will benefit from adjustments of up to 4% to their monthly base salaries, to keep pace with market trends. These adjustments are on top of the recent introduction of the Award for Nurses' Grace, Excellence and Loyalty (ANGEL) scheme in September 2024, which was launched to attract and encourage nurses to build a lifelong career in nursing.

Want to give advice to anyone considering joining the Civil/Public Service.
It is better to join a department that has a defined jobscope, preferably with some operational work.
If you join a purely policy / experimental department, half of your time will be spent playing politics because everyone and their mum are just throwing out their random 2 cents worth on your proposals. It is a freaking nightmare.
Yes, operational work can be shiong at times but you get the hang of it after awhile.
Policy work on the other hand is like all the uncles at the hawker center giving their views (of which many are nonsense) but you still have to find some way to politely tell them that their views are helpful but will not be implemented. Worst is if that person is in some senior management position. The whole project ends up being one giant merry-go-round because no one dares to tell the boss that his/her idea is either (1) dumb, (2) not practical, or (3) requires an extensive amount of resources to perform that the organisation simply cannot provide. Instead, it becomes "yes, your idea is really lame but we have no choice but to pretend to look into it although this will unnecessarily delay the project by another 3 months but we have no choice because we cannot outright decline your lame idea."

To accept or to hold out
Need some advice from the seniors.
3 years ish MX12, contract ending EOY, RO already said emplacement unlikely due to limited headcounts + on special budget. (already warned during interview 3 years ago, so that's fair). Average performer of C, came in from non-civil service with 3 years experience elsewhere.
Have been sending resumes out for half a year and have been asking for MX11 under fresh hire policy, with reasonings that experience (domain knowledge in both previous job and this) is relevant. Today got an HR offer for another MX12 in a ministry outside. Not really keen based on the JD and was hoping they'd offer a promotion, plus they count as lateral hire so no pay bump etc.
I still have interviews/written tests lined up, including one posting from an ex-RO (whose posting is interesting that I want). I had spoken to public service career coaches before that fresh hire with a promotion is possible.
Qn to the senpais:
- how much bargaining grounds do I have with the current offer in asking for promoted grade/pay bump?
- What are the implications if I request to be hired under fresh hire?
- how much bargaining ground do I have with the current

Hi all, I’m MX12, male, in a ministry who has been in this grade for since Jul 2021 when I joined. What are my chances of promotion this year if my last performance grades were C, C and C+? The two Cs were unfair imho
