So 11A is AD, and MX10 is SAD/DD. I gather you prefer, and have the experience, to lead a team. Why don't you check if you will be doing so at the Ministry? It defers from Ministry to Ministry. When I was an AD I was leading a team of 5, but ADs at another Ministry might still be individual contributor.

That being said, the jump from MX11A to MX10 will not come fast unless you are exemplary and if bosses recognise your efforts. Internal rough guidelines for a promotion is 2Bs - that basically means two years before you can get from MX11A to MX10 EARLIEST. So obviously if the SFA position is MX10, it will shave years off your progression.

Do they look at years or last drawn pay?

To my knowledge, civil service has a 'formula' of sorts to ensure parity between newcomers and current officers. This includes factors such as education level, years of relevant experience, NS etc.

Compared to private sector, civil service does not focus that much last drawn pay. The offer (monthly) may at times even be lower than your last drawn! So you have to do your own math, and see if that offer x 16 months (12 months normal pay, about 4 mths of extra comprising mid-year bonus, 13th month, year-end bonus and performance bonus) is better than your current annual. That's why in most HR convos with potential hires, they always ask these candidates to calculate with 16 months in mind - because if its a last drawn monthly to offered monthly, usually its a paycut or just about even.

Indeed. Not easy to get promotion. Will be a rare case to get from MX11A to MX10 within 3 years. First year default C then need to get 2 Bs consecutively in the next 2 years. I’m thinking to just continue to lead teams outside and keep trying for MX10 roles.

The MX11A role is easier to get because the Director is an AO and former teammate, and she reached out to me because she needed help. And that department’s DDs look set to stay there for 10 more years kind so there won’t be opening for promotions. Also AO won’t stay for long la. No guarantee I can move along with her also…

So I guess I answered my own question

Anyone knows what's the grading like in CPF board?

Do they use the mx scheme as well?

No they don't use MX scheme. CPFB is super complicated.

For all fresh grads, LTA is like a toto-machine.

Some departments are fantastic with good wlb, others are just downright nightmarish and you are overwhelmed with so much work the attrition rate damn high.

If you get into a **** department, just quit and go somewhere else.

Most civil service now already 4.8-5k for a FCH. You deserve more.

LOL not sure what you're smoking. Most FCH only get 3.8-4k in the public service

Mx11a

Currently earning 7k per month in private sector, with 20k stocks per year and around 10k bonus. Would this be comparable to a mx11a or mx11 salary? What is the salary range for mx11a?
