Joined in 2018 June. Should be promoting next or 2024 April.
I see another post saying about LTA people can't work elsewhere and I have to sort of agree. I am quite sure I will struggle badly outside after these 4 years of "project management" and not much of technical knowledge gained...

LTAEngineer
Same here. Also joined in June 2018 as civil engineer lol. Expecting to promote next year or the year after.
After 4+ years here, can’t really say I have gained much technical skills besides presenting to higher management, and scolding contractors haha. It’s easy for us to find outside jobs just not at our salary level

You still have many years ahead in your career. Do you want to change and improve your skillset? Or are you content to stagnate?

Yeah. If continue few more years maybe just stuck in LTA liao.
But civil engineering in the private world is quite bad haha.
Will be 6 days workweek with at best 80% of the current LTA pay.

Bro. Will you recommend LTA or PUB for fresh grad civil engineers in terms of workload and salary?

Bro I can't really judge for PUB since I'm looking in from the outside.
From what I see my friends in PUB are doing OK with generally good work life balance but when I deal with PUB people in my projects I have to chase them like siao and they always reply at like midnight one.
Paywise recently PUB had quite a good increment, nothing from LTA yet.

I have asked in another thread. Hoping i can get advice from this thread too
I received offer from hiring stat board under movement policy. Was advised to tender 1 month notice to current stat board but last day tbc as it under transfer and current employer can hold me back 3 months.
Anybody knows whether the payday will remain the same (as per usual under current employer) until my official transfer to new stat board? Or how exactly that goes? My ex-colleague had resigned (not transfered) previously and informed me that she only got her last salary from the employer around 2 weeks after her last day. For transfer, will there be any difference?

For movement policy, payday will remain the same (across all Gov should be same payday). For resignations typically they take longer to process your pay because of clearance time eg. clearing HR, IT, bosses, HQ etc. to ensure that you do not owe them anything that may be deductible from your salary.
