It is a myth that private sector have longer hours. I work longer hours than all my friends who are in private sector. Their work life balance is way better. And also their salary also much higher. Stopping work at 8pm is considered early at my side. It really depends on your department and your Ministry/SB.

Full-Time Employed Residents by Gross Monthly Income From Work (Excluding Employer CPF) file.

It clearly states that the gross monthly income is inclusive of bonus.

And I saved a photo link below to show the percentile illustration for each salary range.
MX11 is cells highlighted in yellow and MX10 in green.

heard from civil service friends that fresh grads all contract roles now? now only mid careers have perm roles?

mid career also will join as contract role unless is management role or under specialised scheme such as EDB and Govtech

After the one year contract, will usually get perm role assuming dont screw up? Is this accurate?
