I'm current in my mid 20s working in the private sector but would like to join the public service eventually (say in my mid 30s) for the stability and the perceived "iron rice bowl".
In terms of career progression / salary package, is it better if I join the public service now or should I continue to build my career (and promote in the private sector) first before eventually joining the public service when I'm in my mid-30s?

Hm I think for younger working adults in public service has better benefits. after that go private is better. But depends on individual I guess, some prefer to have 'iron rice bowl' for stability all the way....

depends on your package.. if its 9.6k * 13 months, i would say its slightly above average.. if its 9.6k * 17momonths then you are doing great!
