Cannot lah. A certain PS already said no more cases of mid careerists to be offered Mx9. Unless it is those very special case, maybe like your boss, specifically headhunted. U won't know the justifications that went on behind the scenes. It's unbelievable. Those after u, aka headhunted by the headhunted, are not counted. Unless u are the special one. Call public service any names, but that's the way it is.

I am relatively OK paid in the private sector at 12.2K p/m + AWS (currently 42 years old) + performance bonus (which has not been great due to covid)
can i negotiate for 14K p/m?
i will likely be going in as DD or Director

u have to understand how the process work. Generally, HR policies do not filter people out based on private degrees. It is up to the hiring managers to pick u from the pool of applicants. The question is will they?, amongst all the local uni people.

adding on, based on my observations, there are such cases but very rare. It is usually through contacts and network.
